  • National Book Development Board-registered editor

Copy editing

I’m a freelance copy editor who mainly edits academic documents on topics such as social sciences, engineering, chemistry, and medicine, correcting them for grammar, spelling, and clarity. That experience has made me very familiar with different topics and terminologies used in each field. I’ve also edited blog posts, website content, marketing materials, reports, and handbooks.

Proofreading

You think your piece is flawless, but there are still a few errors getting in the way of it being perfect. I’ll find them and fix them for you.

Book editing

As a freelance line and copy editor for books, I improve grammar, recommend tone adjustments, perform fact-checking; and comment on flow, content, and the use of appropriate terms. For works of fiction, I correct details to make the story more accurate and ensure consistent characterization. For non-fiction books, I can also double-check your references, ensuring that they’re properly cited in the text and that they are formatted correctly, as well as perform indexing. My goal is not just to produce a grammatically flawless book but also to make sure that it’s something I enjoy reading.

I have mostly been editing young adult and new adult romance fiction and am looking to add more non-fiction books to my portfolio.

OTHER EDITING PROJECTS

I’ve been fortunate enough to live out my dream of being a magazine editor, even for limited-time projects.

As the editor-in-chief of Pop! The Official Magazine of Pop Fiction Books, I was in charge of the editorial direction and developing content. As managing editor of Good Dog, I coordinated production, assigned articles to contributors, and managed the editorial budget.

AI editing

Everyone says AI is going to wipe out my field, but I’ve found that people still like the human touch and need another pair of eyes even after processing their work through an AI tool. My brand of AI editing involves refining your AI-generated work to make it sound as natural as possible. I also fact-check details to ensure that they actually exist and are correct. Having handled AI-written works, I’m also now familiar with how AI-generated text sounds, which means I can correct and humanize it properly.

ESL editing

People from around the world have their own quirks and terms when writing in English, and you want to be sure you’re understood clearly if you’re writing for a diverse audience. I’ve learned how to work with ESL writing as an academic editor who has processed the work of academics from countries such as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and China. I can edit your work to make it read as though it was written by a native English speaker and give you pointers for improving your English writing.

The process

You send me your work, and I return it to you with all the tracked changes visible so you can review the edits. I also leave notes to explain some of the changes or if there are any issues you need to address.

Whatever the type of editing I do, I have the same goal as you: to make your work error-free and preserve your voice so that your ideas, message, and expertise stand out.

Your work will always remain 100% confidential and will never be used to train AI.
